The road less travelled

Wednesday 28 February 2018 El Calafate – Buenos Aires
Depart from El Calafate and fly to Buenos Aires for the night.
Thursday 1 March 2018 Buenos Aires – Arequipa, Peru
This afternoon arrive in the “White City” of Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru, guarded by 3 imposing, snow-capped volcanoes. Although the buildings have been crafted from local white sillar rock, many have been painted vibrant colours, a delightful surprise as you wander the cobblestone streets.
This evening you are free to explore on your own. Arequipa is the centre of modern Peruvian gastronomy so join the locals at a communal picanteria restaurant.
Friday 2 March 2018 - Arequipa
On this morning’s tour admire the superb Plaza de Armas with its imposing palm trees, its classic arched buildings and the striking cathedral. Visit the Santa Catalina Convent and imagine those 450 nuns, swishing around the cloisters, completely isolated from the outside world.
The rest of the day is free.
Saturday 3 March 2018 - Arequipa – Colca Canyon
Today we travel through a mountainous landscape to Colca Canyon, an area of astounding scenic beauty and one of the world’s deepest canyons. Stop at a viewpoint on the Andean Plateau to view stepped terraces and a string of spectacular volcanoes soaring to 6,000 metres.
This afternoon enjoy the delights of the hotel.
Sunday 4 March 2018 - Colca Canyon
This morning travel to the Mirador Cruz del Condor viewpoint where the cliffs tower above you to merge into snowy peaks. Spectacular! Watch as condors rise and circle on the morning thermals. Visit some local villages. Free afternoon.
Monday 5 March 2018 - Colca Canyon – Lake Titicaca
Today travel through the spectacular Andean landscape. Arrive at your hotel which is on a private island in Lake Titicaca. Enjoy a Pisco Sour while watching the sunset over a remarkable scene.
Tuesday 6 March 2018 - Lake Titicaca
Travel by boat to a number of floating villages including the highlight – Islas Uros, constructed entirely of interwoven reeds. Discover the way of life the Uros people.
Enjoy one last night with your fellow travellers sharing a delicious dinner at the hotel.
Wednesday 7 March 2018 - Puno –Lima- Santiago
Begin your journey home. Stay overnight in Santiago Airport Hotel.
Thursday 8 March 2018 - Santiago - Australia
Today take a tour of the coastal cities of Valparaiso Port and Viña del Mar.
Midnight departure to Australia, arriving on 10 March in the morning.
