Depart Australia and stay overnight at the Dallas Airport Hotel.


SUNDAY 20 OCTOBER 2019              MEXICO CITY              B,D

Fly to Mexico City this morning and transfer to your luxurious hotel. The afternoon is free for you to relax before joining fellow delegates for a welcome dinner, just a short stroll from the hotel.

MONDAY 21 OCTOBER 2019              TEOTIHUACAN – MEXICO CITY               B,L

Today take a short trip outside of Mexico City to Teotihuacan, site of many of the most architecturally significant Mesoamerican pyramids built in the pre-Columbian Americas. Your expert local guide together with your archaeologist will bring this mysterious city back to life and afford you private access to some original murals.

We’ll enjoy lunch at one of the Restaurants in Teotihuacan just before returning to the city.

The evening is free.

TUESDAY 22 OCTOBER 2019         PUEBLA – MEXICO CITY               B,L

Today travel to Puebla, a gorgeous colonial town – cobblestone streets, colourful houses       and a church on every corner. Admire (and almost certainly buy!) some world-renowned Talavera pottery. Stroll down La Calle de los Dulces (the Candy Street) with your mouth watering, and visit Puebla’s oldest cantina serving artisanal liqueurs at La Pasita – you might have to try one or two.

Puebla is the source of many of Mexico’s most famous dishes, so enjoy a delicious lunch here.

Then continue on to Cholula, home to the largest pyramid base in Mesoamerica, upon which a 16th Century church was built. Your guide will lead you in exploring the town and on a clear day you may get a view of the Popocatepetl Volcano.

WEDNESDAY 23 OCTOBER 2019            MEXICO CITY                   B,L

Today visit one of the oldest and most beautiful neighbourhoods of Mexico City and explore the Blue House, the home of Frida Kahlo, and immerse yourself in her life and work. Spend some free time in bohemian Coyoacán, or ‘the place of coyotes “. To continue your arty day, go on to the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo House Studio Museum where the couple worked together.  Enjoy a tasty local lunch before returning to your hotel for a free afternoon and evening.

Return to the hotel for a rest and grab some dinner before enjoying the colourful Ballet Folklorico de Mexico show in the splendid white marble Place of Fine Arts.

THURSDAY 24 OCTOBER 2019        MEXICO CITY                    B,L      

Today take a guided tour of the historic city centre, boasting over 1,500 buildings classified as historic or artistic monuments, and deservedly a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stand in the impressive central square, The Zócalo (The Base), and admire the grand Presidential Palace with its spectacular Diego Rivera mural depicting the history of Mexican civilisation and the monumental National Cathedral. Visit Antiguo Colegio San Ildefonso to see some more murals from the 1920s.

After lunch begin to unravel the complex history of Mexico and its people with a guided tour of the outstanding National Museum of Anthropology.
